About the shed
Merri Community Shed grew from a Men’s Shed concept aligned with the values of the Victorian Men’s Shed Association (VMSA), with a strong focus on wellbeing, skill-sharing, and social connection through practical making.
In 2023, the Shed evolved into a Community Shed, welcoming men and women of all ages and experience levels, while retaining the core Men’s Shed ethos of purposeful activity, mutual support, and learning by doing.
Located at 19 Harding Street, Coburg (former Coburg Moreland Bowls Club), the Shed offers a welcoming, inclusive space where members can work with wood and metal, learn new skills, share knowledge, and connect with others. We operate as a volunteer-run, non-commercial organisation, with a strong emphasis on safety, respect, and community participation.
The Shed shares its site with Coburg Common, a local community garden, strengthening connections between making, growing, and community wellbeing. Membership has grown rapidly since opening, reflecting strong demand for an inclusive, hands-on community space.
