Geelong Roadshow
In the words of a couple of Country and Western songs, “We Were On The Road Again” and “The Way to My Heart Is With A Bacon and Egg Roll”, (ok, the second one may not be an actual song but I reckon the Torquay or Daylesford Bands could make a hit out of it). And so it began, an expeditionary force from the VMSA left the comfort of downtown Dandenong and headed to the provincial paradises of Geelong and Ballarat for the inaugural Regional Roadshows.
We started with an epic event hosted by the Geelong Greyhound Club on Thursday 15th May. (huge thanks to Parko and the team for making us welcome and putting on a great spread). Sheds from all over the tropical Bellarine Peninsula were treated to a day of it. I will talk about our presenters in a bit but the band stole the show. (band is not quite sufficient more like an orchestra). Our speakers were also a highlight with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Live Up and Ambulance Victoria providing interesting presentations that got everyone thinking and talking. Owen from Total Dust Extraction and James from JC Walsh then spoke about why they were supporting sheds and offering great services and discounts. Our other sponsor Bunnings also presented their Community Engagement award to the lads from Cliften Springs, a well-deserved recognition.
