A Letter of Support from The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia

In a letter to VMSA Executive Officer, Michelle Bourke, PCFA Community Engagement Manager – Southern Regions, Linley Watson, recognised sheds as welcoming places where men build friendships, stay connected and feel comfortable talking about their physical and mental health.
PCFA also pointed out that sheds reach men who might not otherwise come across health information or support. An informal chat over the workbench can be what gets a shedder to book in with his GP, understand his risk, or find support after a diagnosis.
“Victoria’s Men’s Sheds are valued partners of PCFA in raising prostate cancer awareness and supporting men’s health.” Linley Watson, PCFA
Linley and the PCFA team have been a familiar sight at shed events around the state. They’ve given talks, run information stalls, and shared practical resources on prostate cancer risk, PSA testing and support services.
We thank PCFA for their support and for their ongoing work with sheds and shedders across Victoria.
