Cardinia Men’s Shed Finds Room to Grow in New Home

The Cardinia Men’s Shed has entered an exciting new chapter, relocating from its long-time shed in Pakenham to a much larger factory space that will provide members with new opportunities to learn, build and connect.

For many years, the shed operated from a modest 8 x 8.5 metre building, a space that served members well but limited what the group could achieve. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of a local benefactor, the shed has now moved into a factory premises, with rent covered for the next three years.

Since taking possession of the new site, members have wasted no time transforming the space into a welcoming and functional shed. Volunteers have already constructed an office, community room, laser room, kitchen and entry area, while workshop equipment and tooling are being installed and organised.

The additional space will allow the shed to expand its activities, support more members and continue creating opportunities for social connection, skill sharing and community engagement.
While members are excited about the move, they have also retained their original shed and are exploring ways it can generate income to support the shed’s long-term future. The goal is to help secure a permanent home through building, purchasing or renting a facility of their own.

The shed has also acknowledged the many people and organisations that have supported its journey. In particular, members have expressed their gratitude to Living Learning Pakenham for its support over many years while the shed was based on its site. The shed has also thanked BNI Pakenham Achievers for its ongoing support and Swoop for committing to provide NBN internet services for the next three years.

The move is a testament to what can be achieved when communities rally behind their local Men’s Shed. With a larger home, dedicated volunteers and strong community backing, the future is looking bright for the members of Cardinia Men’s Shed.
