Sale Roadshow Community Awards

A highlight of the day of the roadshow was the presentation of the VMSA and Bonney Energy Shed Community Awards, recognising five Gippsland sheds for their outstanding contribution to their local communities. Each winning shed received a $200 cash voucher.
Sale Men’s Shed was recognised for an impressive range of community work, including partnering with the Sale Apex Club, building shelves and garden boxes for Veterans Affairs, constructing park benches for Sale Rotary Club, making a cross for St Columbus Church and completing odd jobs for two other local churches.
Loch Sport Men’s Shed was acknowledged for their charitable work across the community, including supporting the local food bank, partnering with the RSL, CFA, Community Care and Christian Centre, building a cross for the local church, cleaning tables along the foreshore for Lions Club and establishing a partnership with Parks Victoria.
Devon North Men’s Shed was recognised for their valuable contributions including making seats for Devon North Hospital, building benches for Devon North Primary School, assisting the widow of a shed member who had passed away by cleaning her home, helping other recently bereaved community members with odd jobs and working with the local community hall on various projects.
Meeniyan Men’s Shed was acknowledged for their tireless work across a wide range of organisations including Meeniyan State School, the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, Stony Creek Racing Club, running a sausage sizzle for the local Red Cross and selling poppies for the RSL on Remembrance Day.
Golden Paradise Beach Men’s Shed was recognised for their outstanding work with the Golden Beach CFA, building possum boxes for local wildlife, assisting the local community hall and providing a welcoming and supportive place for local men to meet and connect.
Congratulations to all five sheds. The work being done across Gippsland is a powerful reminder of the difference men’s sheds make to the towns and communities they call home.
